Visitor Reviews of Crimdon Dene

Lisa, Banbury
Date of stay: 31st August 2020
The caravan was spacious and clean. There was a crack on the toilet door handle and the TV remote was broken (not a battery issue) only reasons for the Mark's being lower.

Lovely site with a shop, bar/restaurant, pool and much more! The site is located very close to the beach which myself, the wife and kids used plenty and it wasnt one of those overcrowded beaches which was great. The static was very very clean and met our expectations. Staff were also very friendly as were the locals at places we visited. Look forward to returning soon!

We used this as a base for exploring the coast from Newcastle down to Scarborough. The caravan was excellent. Due to covid 19 we had no interaction with staff and apart from visiting the shop we did not use the site facilities. The site has great sea views and access to a good beach.

Lovely site great location, just too noisy with the location of the caravan

Date of stay: 7th October 2019
We had a lovely time although the rubbish really got on our nerves and the site manager Andrea made things feel really difficult , no attempt to resolve our complaint. She sent some one along to move it a couple of cm and even he said it was shocking and terrible customer service. After reading several reviews I can see we arent the only one to report a problem with the managers attitude.

Date of stay: 12th August 2019
Great break away with kids 0-13yrs. restaurant was clean with a friendly atmosphere. Food average (typical budget food/frozen food) sunday roast was the best! good selection of drinks for all. heated indoor pool ideal for youngest (6month) and the jacuzzi was enjoyable. (shame only 45mins are allocated per booking but understandable with lots of holiday makers) pre booking essential with the life gaurd without any problems. Mini NICE shop on site which was handy although did lack stock but for suitable for the size of the site. Overall we all had an enjoyable experience and will return next year.

We would have liked to use the bar more ,but young children chasing round tables and pushchairs being pushed round to get baby to sleep, was more like babysitting than relaxing.we left bar at 9.30 and did'nt go back.

It was an Oakley caravan we stayed in eventually as the first caravan we tried, the seats were very low. I explained to Sam in reception about my hip and spine problems that I received after a car accident with 45% burns, and Sam was so very helpful, so she changed the caravan for us.

Date of stay: 28th September 2018
The caravan had an air freshener fitted which within minutes I had an allergic reaction. We went to the site office reception and the security man Mark was wonderful he came and took the air freshener out. Once the smell had died down I was fine. It was extremely dark inside at night as the lighting was so poor. Not like the caravan we had the week previously at Mablethorpe. We found quite a few cob webs as well.

Accommodation was ok swimming pool a big disappointment as couldnt get in till the afternoon we left. For the amount of holiday makers the pool should be bigger and why have the entrance through the bar area?

Crimdon Dene is a very beautiful unspoilt/non commercial beach/and area with bird wildlife conversation projects nearby.
It is suitable for dog walkers too ,and I found everyone to be most welcoming to well behaved dogs (in fact most the local people have well behaved dogs) Local people very friendly and helpful .
The caravan was clean beautiful/roomy and well equipped .
The pool was small but lovely but operates on you pre booking a 45 min slot with the life guard in advance.
Shame that the spa pool was not working (as that was another reason i had booked that site ) as i now read from previous reviews that it has been broken for months (so thats my only bug bear ) I would definitely recommend and also i will go again, all the staff were lovely ...well supported with local buses to get into Hartlepool to see the Royal navy museum or the Hartlepool museum . Or get the bus to nearby Seaham vey nice seaside town with its famous Sculpture' Billy'
The Durham people were amazing friendly ,kind, welcoming and knowledgeable and helpful
