Visitor Reviews of Angrove Country Park

Norman, Perth
Date of stay: 1st June 2022
The only thing that we would suggest is that the bedroom could do with some sort of black out blinds or curtains, as the slatted blinds allowed the light through from 4am each morning.
Beth, Yorkshire
Date of stay: 1st June 2022
The new lodges at angrove in the woods are brand new and very comfortable and modern. We loved our time there apart from the noise and being overlooked, all staff are very polite, helpful and friendly. If you have any problems they will try to resolve it straight away.
Sophie, Loughborough
Date of stay: 31st May 2022
The accommodation is very nice as it is brand new. It provides all the self catering options you need (washing machine/ dishwasher and microwave). The en-suite is an added bonus. The hot tub and outside area really do make the accommodation extra special.
Irene, Sheffield
Date of stay: 29th May 2022
The site needs to be finished before guests arrive. There was a lot of construction still going on and large construction vehicles, diggers, etc, and workmen right outside our lodge and along the roadway to the lodges still working. The road up to our lodge was not finished, thankfully we did not have heavy rain while we were there because the access road to our lodge was not tarmacked. There were piles of earth and stone chippings along the side of the road leading up to our lodge and on the car parking area. Felt uncomfortable using the hot tub and outside seating area when there were workmen present all day. No separate recycling facilities all waste went into one bin. Only one dog waste bin near reception to serve the whole site. Lodge had many faults such as no water to both showers, and the main shower not draining away, which were dealt with quickly. Cupboards not fitted correctly. Both outside doors had gaps so did not close easily. One large cupboard even came off its runners. We feel this could have been prevented if the site was open when it was completely finished and the lodges properly checked over before paying guests arrived. The saving grace of Angrove was the staff. They were very polite, and helpful and couldn't do enough for us. They don't deserve to be put in this position. Before we booked this holiday at Angrove there was no warning that the site was still in construction, we would not have booked if we had known.

Could do with more cutlery/crockery. One per person isn't enough when 4 adults sharing. Apart from that, all great!

Good food, nice views and very pleasant staff. Have been a few times and recommended it to others.

Date of stay: 18th May 2022
Lovely location with lots to do in the area. Lodge was very clean and well equipped. Only thing that spoiled the week a bit was all the on site building work. We were in a lodge directly overlooking everything that was going on. Had our nervous terrier with us who kept barking at the machinery noise, so had to keep curtains shut so he couldn't see outside. Also if it had been warmer wouldn't have been able to sit outside and enjoy peace and quiet. Work started around 8.30 and went on till 6.30 on some nights. I know this has to be done but would have preferred a lodge in a quieter position, wouldn't have booked the lodge if we had known in advance about the building work. Also as my husband repairs plant machinery for a living so he didn't particularly want to look at them working on his holiday. Sorry can't give you a higher rating on this occasion. I'm sure everything will be fabulous when finished.

Would benefit from sanitary bins in bathrooms, new gowns as existing ones are very small and thin, also the knives need sharpening and a bread knife would be useful. Otherwise perfect.

Lovely quiet site Lovely clean cabin.Comfy bed. Staff very friendly and go out of their way to help with any problems. Only downside could do with small table and chairs or trays to eat off as being disabled could not get onto bar stools.Otherwise excellent and would definitely recommend.

Date of stay: 26th November 2021
This place is complete perfection. I booked to stay with my husband, son and mum before my sister's wedding. The team was so helpful beforehand when I contacted her to ask about wedding cars picking us up. We arrived on the Friday to The Retreat, it was just gorgeous. Also perfect for my toddler being on one level. The hot tub was fantastic. As a Great Ayton girl by birth it was so lovely to return and the surroundings are gorgeous. In fact so gorgeous that my sister changed her plans and got ready for her wedding at The Retreat! They even contacted us to let us check out late on the Sunday as there were no other guests. Breakfast at G&T was outstanding.
Nina, Rotherham
Date of stay: 23rd November 2021
The location and resort is beautiful. The restaurant and bar on site serves very nice food. The only disappointment was that dogs were not allowed indoors, which they usually have been in other sites that we have visited. It was quite cold to be sitting outside but they did take aways which were great.
Donna, Hartlepool

Date of stay: 20th August 2021
The menu at the G and Tea House seems more restricted this time around, as does the gin selection. The lodge is lovely - the only comment I would make is that the bed is far too soft and left both of us with back ache. The mattress needs to offer more support.

Date of stay: 6th March 2020
Fab lodge, would have been nice to have more instructions (was a gas oven which we didn't realise and struggled to light - no instruction book, but we phoned the reception and they were helpful), only thing missing was a shaver plug - to charge my toothbrush!
Clare, Nottingham
Date of stay: 10th February 2020
Amazing time had by all
Sue, Stokesley
Date of stay: 2nd February 2020
Only slight things, were, we could have done with an extra smaller lamp in the lounge area, more ambient than putting on the big lights,.

Also the hot tub was great but the way it opened meant we could not see the view when we were sat in it. Could do with it opening to the side to allow access to the lovely view.

Finally, we had to ring the owner to work the oven. We didn't realise it had a gas ignition and nothing is mentioned in the book, but it wasn't a major thing.
Lindsey, Stockton-on-tees

Really quiet place, had an amazing time. Lodge was decorated to a high standard, couldn't fault the place, highly recommended xxx
