The Bay is a large complex of holiday cottages and apartments with a fantastic location in Yorkshire. It was summer when we visited the site and the sea views were quite spectacular. First impression as we arrived were very good, the site is very well maintained and the reception staff friendly and efficient.
The Bay offers several options for accommodation including traditionally styled apartments and luxury cottages. We were lucky enough to be shown round a few of the apartments during our stay and all were modern, contemporary and well equipped. We also had a peek inside the Regatta Cottage, a spacious, two storey cottage with three bedrooms, open plan living room and a private patio. This type of cottage would be perfect for larger families.
The Plymouth apartment can sleep up to 4 people. The L shaped living room was spacious and light and the large windows made the room feel even bigger. The double bedroom had an ensuite bathroom and the twin bedroom was perfect for children. The dining table and fitted kitchen are good for self catering but once we discovered the food at the on site pub we were hooked! With a comprehensive menu including battered king prawns with sweet chilli sauce, steak pie and chips and chicken curry we found it to be very tasty and excellent value for money.
The location of The Bay it what makes it so special though. With an elevated position above the beach at Filey you can wander down to the sand via the little path and be on the beach in minutes. The park also has 2 pretty lakes and the surrounding area has plenty of options for walking and cycling. Some of the coastal paths offer really stunning views. Road links are excellent with some major roads close by leading to Scarborough and Bridlington for family daytrips. We visited Scarborough Sealife Centre, Whitby Abbey and had a fantastic day at Flamingoland Theme park in Malton.
We would recommend The Bay to families, couples or groups of friends seeking a high standard of accommodation and easy access to all the attractions of Yorkshire.
