Lodges in Devon Guide

devon lodge holidaysDevon lodge holidays are a great way to explore Devon and enjoy a relaxing break with your family or other half.

Beaches and Countryside Galore

The county of Devon needs little introduction and it remains one of the most popular places for UK holidays.  Of course the climate is a major draw being south of the UK and the abundance of sandy beaches are a great place to enjoy those sunny days.

From family friendly sandy beaches to pebbled coves full of charm both the North and South of Devon enjoy stunning coastlines.

Many associate Devon with the golden beaches but there is much more to this place.  As well as the two coastlines there are actually two National Parks and no less than five official Areas of Outstanding Natural Beauty!  So if it's lush green countryside you crave then look no further.

Both offer quality lodges in beautiful surroundings. To the South of Devon, Portmile Coastal Lodges make a perfect luxury lodge break, each with private outdoor hot tubs.

For families and couples Devon is full of world class attractions, historic buildings, fabulous eateries and much more.

Family attractions

beach holidays devonPaignton Zoo is one of the most popular places to visit in the region and children will especially love to see the wide variety of animals.  Another place to get up close and personal to some animals in Pennywell Farm - a lovely day out especially in the Spring and Summer.

Powderham Castle

We recommend a day at Powderham Castle but there is no much to do you might not fit it in all in one day.  Guided tours are on offer to help you see as much as you can or you might like to take a Deer safari!  Other great attractions at this place for families include the nature trail, Walled Garden Play Area & Pets Corner.   The beautiful views from the castle are also well worth the visit.

Local Produce

Devon cream teas are a real delight but Devon does fine dining too!  The local produce mean that the food in the cafes and restaurants is excellent.

From chilli farms and dairies to coffee roasters and micro-brewers the producers here are wonderful.

Fine Dining

Michael Caines MBE is one of the UK’s most influential and respected chefs in the area at the Michelin-starred Lympstone Manor and you will also find him at the Coach House by Michael Caines MBE, situated at Kentisbury Grange.

Devon food festivals take place all year round not just in the summer.  Around Easter time you could head for the Exeter Festival of South West Food and Drink and in May The Shops at Dartington have a brilliant food fair.

If you're in Devon during the month of August you'll be lucky enough to catch the South Devon Crab Month or Flavour Fest in Plymouth
